Value: the degree of light and dark in a design. It is the contrast between black and white and all the tones in between. Value can be used with color as well as black and white. Contrast is the extreme changes between values.
Primary: any of a group of colors from which all other colors can be obtained by mixing.
Secondary: a color resulting from the mixing of two primary colors.
Complementary: colors directly opposite each other in the color spectrum, such as red and green or blue and orange, that when combined in the right proportions, produce white light.
